Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Board, and the Office of Alumni Relations has selected YANG Jianli, Ph.D. of Political Economy from Harvard University (2001) and president of Citizen Power for China aka Initiatives for China, to be the Recipient of the 2013 Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Achievement Award.
The HKS Alumni Achievement Award recognizes an HKS alumnus whose work best exemplifies HKS values and whose leadership and innovative achievements demonstrate an innovative, scalable, and sustainable approach to solving a public problem that has a significant impact on the lives of many people. After reviewing the nominations of all candidates, the committee determined that you and your work best exemplify the award’s criteria.
In its award announcement, Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Award Committee says that Dr. YangJianli has “been an inspiring champion of human rights in very challenging situations, putting himself at grave personal risk in a struggle for democratic rights. His commitment to nonviolence is a commendable example for us all, and his voice for democracy and human rights in one of the largest countries in the world must be recognized and amplified.”
The award will be presented during the ceremony in JFK Forum at Harvard Kennedy School at 3:00pmon May 11, 2013. This will be a part of the Reunion Weekend for Harvard Alumni.
