Chinese Activist Chen Ziming Receives the Tom Lantos Legacy Award

On December 30, 2013 , the Tom Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice honored renowned Chinese democracy movement pioneer Chen Ziming with its legacy award. Katrina Lantos Swett, the President of the Foundation and daughter of the late Congressman Tom Lantos, wrote in a signed citation that Chen Ziming was given this award for ” a life lived in selfless and devoted service in the cause of human rights and freedom of expression in China. Thank you for forging a path for others to follow. ”
The Tom Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice, an NGO dedicating to the global human rights cause, is named after the late U.S. Congressman Tom Lantos who was a Nazi concentration camp survivor, founder of the U.S. Congressional Human Right Caucus, and a global leader of human rights. Before he passed away, Congressman Lantos had been a most vocal advocate for human rights in China.

He deserves this special honor after four decades of deep commitment and sacrifice in the pursuit of democracy and human rights in China.
