How has China changed since the 1989 Tiananmen Square Democracy movement?  Has China become the model of harmonious society riding a wave of socio/economic progress?  Or have the sixty years of communist rule been “a disaster for the Chinese people” as claimed by leading Chinese intellectuals in their “Charter 08” manifesto.

Initiatives for China is sponsoring two open mic forums to mark the 21st anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Democracy Movement.  The forums will give Chinese citizens the opportunity to share their experiences about what it is like to live in China today.

“Much of what we read and hear about China paints a picture of a China that often omits the reality of what it is like to live in China today. These open mic forums will give an up close and personal look behind the wall of censorship and media hype that will add another dimension to our thinking about China.

Come hear what has changed and what has not since Tiananmen.

The public is invited but seating is limited.  I you would like to reserve a seat call Jim Geheran at 202.290.1423 or email him a jgeheran@initiativesforchina.org.
